Started in 2019, Kurdistan Health Summit (KHS) is a Summit that is dedicated to discussing healthcare issues in the Kurdistan region of Iraq specifically and Iraq in a broader spectrum. It is brought to action by the AVI organization to gather the pillars of healthcare in the community and healthcare leaders to provide better understanding and discussions about current-day problems of health in the region and the country overall. And that is to bring better solutions. KHS is regarded as one of the most influential health events that will be taking place in the Kurdistan Region, and Iraq as well. More than 1000 physicians, health professionals, and related experts from in and outside the country will participate in this event. The idea of the health Summit is to have an annual health system checkup point at this time of the year, to check every single defect that is present in the health system and directly or indirectly affects social life and the community health quality. Kurdistan Health Summit (KHS) will include Health researches, debates, health startups, panels about the main health issues as well as workshops and seminars. This year, the themes of problems to be discussed will extend to all corners of the health care community; these are the main topic lines that will be covered by panels in the Kurdistan Health Summit 2020: Public Health, Health System, Gender Equity among Healthcare Professionals, Women & Children health, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Nursing, Environment, Food Safety, Veterinary, Cancer, Peshmerga Health, Research & Development, Health Unions, Societies, & Non-Governmental Health Actors, IDP & Refuges’ Health and, Academic Health Education. Kurdistan Health Summit 2019 took place from the 20th – 22nd of April 2019 in Rotana Hotel, Erbil. The Summit was 3 days event where panels about problems facing the medical community such as the Quality of Health Services, The Primary Healthcare and Chronic Diseases, Pharmaceutical Industry Management Strategy, Cancer Control Strategy, and Health Information Management and Research, were discussed by foreign panelists, doctors, health workers, influencers and main stakeholders in the region bringing a better understanding of the current and the future obstacles in the medical community and system, their management and available solutions. The impact of KHS2019 was mainly the spread of awareness and finding common ground to solve challenges on both professional and social level in the medical departments. It brought beneficial discussions, and fruitful outcomes of the topics discussed. Kurdistan Health Summit 2020 will have the essential cores of KHS 2019 however will be different in the conduction and involvement. KHS2020 will include Pre-Kurdistan Health Summit, KHS Startup to immediately start the influence of Kurdistan Health Summit. KHS 2020 will also extend its horizon of departments where it will include not only the medical department but pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, Peshmerga Health, IDPs and Refugee Health, veterinary and many other departments for a bigger and more diverse picture. KHS2020 will also include KHS Award of the Year. Logistical aspects will change as well such as the location, the date, the number of topics discussed, the number of volunteers and activities involved.
